Aquaculture has emerged as an increasingly important food source for our population’s growth. Shrimp farming, specifically, has seen greater than a 455% increase in metric ton production from 1970 to 2012. This trend is expected to continue and accelerate as the demand of our growing population increases. Asian countries currently produce the majority of the worlds farmed shrimp products with South America playing an increasing role. Aquaculture is also one of the world's most efficient and sustainable methods to produce high-quality protein. The industry has low carbon footprint and feed conversion ratio (FCR) as well as high protein and energy retention enabling better scope towards sustainability.
